Attending the MEDYS 2024 Greek Yacht Show in Nafplio was truly enchanting, reigniting my passion for the yachting world. From April 27th to May 2nd, the MEDYS showcased a dazzling array of maritime opulence, featuring some of the world's most exquisite yachts. Nafplio's picturesque charm, steeped in history and surrounded by crystal-clear waters, provided a splendid backdrop for this prestigious event.
The MEDYS is not just the largest luxury crewed yacht charter show in the world. Organised by the Greek Yachting Association, the MEDYS is also one of the most influential events in the yachting world offering unparalleled insights and opportunities.
As a broker, having the chance to witness these magnificent vessels personally was invaluable. It deepened my understanding of their unique features and unmatched luxury, enabling me to expertly match my clients with their dream charters.
Beyond the yachts themselves, being at the show allowed me to immerse myself in the exceptional hospitality and professionalism of the Greek yachting community. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and smiles. Everywhere I ventured, I found myself pulled into delightful conversations with like-minded enthusiasts who share a passion for travel and the sea. With the stunning views and seemingly endless sunsets painting the marina, I felt transported to the pages of a luxury travel magazine.
It is worth noting that yachts measuring 24 meters and above in length have the right to participate in the exhibition, making the MEDYS the only sector event of similar scope in Greece that is exclusively addressed to the upper segment of luxury yachting.
The real gem, however, was not just the impeccably crafted yachts but the polished and inviting crews on board. Their extensive knowledge of the region, cultivated through years of devoting their professional careers to navigating these waters, was truly impressive. Many, even native Greeks, expressed Greece as their top choice for chartering without hesitation when given the opportunity to choose any worldwide destination. They went on to regale me with stories from each island they charter, and their passion for these islands and what they do shined exponentially, illuminating Greece's beauty in a profound way.
